Students at the Langhorne-based Woods schools honed their culinary skills at a spring fling event hosted by Whitson’s Culinary Group, which provides lunch for the students and staff in the Gardner and Crestwood Schools at Woods Services. The aspiring chefs donned aprons and chef hats and headed to the kitchen for a Chefology 101 lesson. They prepared vegetable salads and wraps while learning about kitchen safety and healthy ingredients.
Whitson staff then helped students plant an organic vertical garden with mesclun, basil, thyme, and Swiss chard. Whitson’s garden program, Elmer’s Organic Garden, is designed to create connections between students and the foods they eat. Chef Harold Moreno prepared lunch for the students, who received certificates for their participation and take-home activities to complement what they learned.
