10-Year Anniversary Run for Woods Raises More Than $300k for Individuals With Disabilities

LANGHORNE, Pa. (April 23, 2024) – Woods Services, a nonprofit organization that provides healthcare and a vast array of services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and emotional/behavioral challenges, is putting the fun in fundraising at its 10th anniversary 2024 Run for Woods 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Walk, presented by Faulkner-Ciocca Automotive.

The festivities on Sunday, May 5, 2024, include an appearance by Swoop, the Eagle’s mascot, the Eagles drumline and cheerleaders, carnival games, and an exciting array of special events for runners, walkers, and rollers of all abilities. The event at 11 Meadowood Drive in Langhorne kicks off with an opening ceremony hosted by Iheart Radio Q102 Bex & Buster at 8:45 a.m. and led by the color guard of the Jesse W. Soby American Legion Post 148 of Langhorne. The 5K Run starts at 9:00 a.m., and the 1-Mile Fun Walk starts at 9:10 a.m. Participants will run, roll, and stroll through the scenic trails at Woods Services and pass the animal-therapy barn with its resident alpacas, pigs, goats, horses, and more.

Participants can register at runforwoods.org. With the $45 registration fee, all participants will receive an official commemorative 10-year race t-shirt, race medal, and will have an opportunity to enjoy other event amenities, including Rita’s Water Ice. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in each age category.

“We are immensely grateful to our sponsors, team leaders, runners, rollers, walkers, Bucks County neighbors, and our Woods families and friends for their outpouring of support for the 10th annual Run for Woods,” Hansen-Turton said. “Their participation helps Woods Services provide exceptional educational, vocational, and recreational opportunities that enrich lives and increase independence. We are also pleased to honor Joe Faulkner and Gregg Ciocca for their 10-year sponsorship of the event and recognize the positive impact they are making in the lives of the children, adolescents, and adults Woods serves.”

Run for Woods has already exceeded its $300,000 goal from 68 sponsors in Bucks County, the Greater Philadelphia community, and around the country; more than 20 race fundraising teams; and many individual participants. The funds will support Woods Services in its mission to provide innovative, comprehensive, and integrated healthcare, education, housing, vocational, behavioral health, and case management services to children, adolescents, and adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges who have complex and intensive medical and behavioral healthcare needs.
